The Eye Fund ψ Optics A charity to support people losing their vision

Simon used his graphics to help express his changing vision. Some of them clearly represent the eye, while we know that the eye has been the starting point for others in which it may no longer be recognisable.

It is important to Simon’s family that they use his work to offer others an opportunity that would have made a significant difference to Simon. Your contribution, as a purchase or a gift, can help them make a real difference to people right across the UK.

Our son Simon:

Simon was unique, a ’one off’ and totally irreplaceable.

Simon liked and respected every person and thought every creature and tree and plant deserved that respect. He had a single-mindedness that could drive a parent to distraction, but that gave him the ability to do whatever he chose to do. For a period of time he walked away from life’s possessions and lived among the creatures and woods in Devon.

Lots of people have played a part in Simon’s short life and he valued all of them.

One of his life’s greatest experiences was a trip to see some of the world’s wonders before his sight deteriorated. This trip was funded by Paul McCartney who still helps Simon today by giving us his help to produce this wonderful calendar. Thank you Paul! Simon would be proud. We are proud of our very special boy.

Sir Paul McCartney

Sir Paul McCartney has added his support to this very worthy cause and written a foreword for the calendar:

This Calendar celebrates the life of my Second Cousin, Simon. Every time we met each other, I recall his infectious smile and great sense of humour and will always have fond memories of his lovely personality.

He was an extremely talented guy – as this calendar proves – and his talents extended beyond art to music, where he was an accomplished bassist and keyboardist. At an early age, he was influenced strongly by Linda and myself and became a committed vegetarian with a great love of nature and all its miraculous creations.

He is sorely missed by all of us who knew and loved him, but I for one will never forget his smiling face and all of us in the family will cherish his memory forever.
