Fractured Vision Exhibition

We’re excited to be able to tell you that we have another exhibition coming up: Fractured Vision.

Once again, we’re using Birkenhead Park as our location. The exhibition will be opened by The Eye Fund Patron, Mike McCartney, and will run from 22-28 November 2010.

We are delighted that the artists from Wirral Met. College have agreed to help The Eye Fund and thrill everyone with their exhibits. They have our most grateful thanks.

If you would like to help us promote this event, you can download the Fractured Vision Exhibition poster as a PDF

Craft Fair in the Pavilion, Birkenhead Park

I think the people in Birkenhead must be getting fed up with us by now. Only kidding—they have been very generous.

This was a new craft fair that hadn’t been there before and we were offered a free table as we are a charity. We couldn’t miss this opportunity to get to know other stall-holders and raise even more for the charity.

It was over the 2 days but only from 11:00am to 3:00pm. We finished the weekend taking £225.00.

Collection at Central Station AND Christmas Fair at Ashville Lodge

We really had our work cut out that day. 10:00am we landed at Central Station in Liverpool, set up the banners, started to collect until 12:00 noon when our relief crew arrived. Then we dashed to Ashville Lodge in Birkenhead to take part in the Craft Fair.

We had arranged to set the stall up on Friday and for someone to attend the stall for us till we arrived at 12:30pm. By 4:00pm we had had enough and were glad to see other stalls packing up. Altogether it was a very successful day; £341.80 from Central Station and £221.50 from the craft fair.

Craft Fair at The Pavilion in Birkenhead Park

This was our first real opportunity to display our goods at a Craft Fair. Held in The Pavilion in Birkenhead Park, it was supposed to be in a big marquee. Guess what? Someone forgot to order it. (D’oh!)

However, some thoughtful person managed to buy some gazebos and (nearly) everything worked out OK.

The weather was good and we managed to take about £200.

Eyedesign Exhibition Success

The Eye Fund celebrated a wonderful opening of the Eyedesign exhibition in the new Pavilion in Birkenhead Park.

Over 50 people attended the opening — performed by Mike McCartney, Wirral’s Cultural Ambassador… AND NOW The Eye Fund Patron.

Simon’s wonderful designs were the main feature, supported by some amazing impressions of his graphics by several professional artists. The Children of Bidston Avenue Primary school played no small part by entering their own canvases.

Family and friends travelled from varying parts of the UK to attend and add their love and support for Simon and his work.

A cheque to the value of £4,500 was presented to the Wirral Society of the Blind and Partially sighted to fund our very first Eye Fund counsellor, now working in Arrowe Park Hospital.

If you missed it you can contribute by donating to The Eye Fund (download a copy of the mandate form).

The aim of The Eye Fund trustees and Simon’s family is to have Eye Fund counsellors helping people like Simon in several hospitals.

Please help us to realise this.

Wirral’s Cultural Ambassador to open Exhibition

The Eye Fund is having an art exhibition of some of Simon’s graphics. Professional artists will be contributing some of their own impressions of Simon’s designs.

Local school children have been working hard making their own copies of the same pictures.

Art by Simon Sherry

This is to be held from 12th March to 21st March in The Pavilion, Birkenhead Park, Wirral. The grand opening by Mike McCartney, Wirral’s Cultural Ambassador takes place on the 11th March by invitation only.

We will also be presenting a cheque of £4500 to the Wirral Society for the Blind and Partially sighted to help pay for a counsellor to advise people faced with losing their sight.
