Craft Fair in the Pavilion, Birkenhead Park

I think the people in Birkenhead must be getting fed up with us by now. Only kidding—they have been very generous.

This was a new craft fair that hadn’t been there before and we were offered a free table as we are a charity. We couldn’t miss this opportunity to get to know other stall-holders and raise even more for the charity.

It was over the 2 days but only from 11:00am to 3:00pm. We finished the weekend taking £225.00.

Collection at Central Station AND Christmas Fair at Ashville Lodge

We really had our work cut out that day. 10:00am we landed at Central Station in Liverpool, set up the banners, started to collect until 12:00 noon when our relief crew arrived. Then we dashed to Ashville Lodge in Birkenhead to take part in the Craft Fair.

We had arranged to set the stall up on Friday and for someone to attend the stall for us till we arrived at 12:30pm. By 4:00pm we had had enough and were glad to see other stalls packing up. Altogether it was a very successful day; £341.80 from Central Station and £221.50 from the craft fair.

Cheltenham Race Course

We were at Cheltenham Race Course for the whole weekend, not for the racing this time, but with the Ladies Association of Barbershop Singers. We took everything we had to sell as we knew there would be over 3000 people there for the weekend, mainly ladies.

We sold mainly jewellery and some cards and framed pictures and we made £860 all together. It was a strenuous weekend, but worth while.

Charity Race Night in Higher Bebington

Now this was a fun night. We had a Race Night at Victoria Hall in Higher Bebington. Everything was going well and we were just about to start when the DVD player failed to play.

Imagine, a race night with no racing.

However, one bright ‘punter’ brought their laptop in and managed to get the night off to a good start.

We had a hot-pot supper laid on; that was delicious. Plenty of donations helped us take over £200 on the raffle. The local shopkeepers were very generous. The betting was quick and heavy before each race.

Everyone enjoyed themselves and we were the overall winners taking £1200 on the night.

Thanks Beryl and everyone who helped.

Race Night Results

The latest fund raising venture was a Race Night organised by David. The venue was the Marine Football club in Crosby (where David and Anne-Marie had their evening do for their wedding).

The evening was a great success and a real family happening. Everyone from Phil’s Nan, Paul’s brother from Leicestershire, Jake from Blackburn, and not forgetting Jamie, Ciaran and 2 year-old William. Everyone had a brilliant time and a lovely hot-pot supper (sorry Phil).

After expenses, the amount raised was over £700. Well Done David! (even if he has a few more grey hairs now)

Now! What’s next???

Liverpool Collection

We had a marathon collection at Central Station, Liverpool on 16th August 2008.

Paul and Carol were there from 10am to 4pm with buckets, joined by Helen, Russell, Marie, Steve Tam (from the Capitol Chinese Restaurant) and Andy Morgan (Steve’s friend). It was a long day but the public were very generous. Andy ceratinly added a special something when he arrived. The grand total was £465.09.

We think Simon would have been proud of our stamina.

Take a look at some pictures of the event in our gallery.
